Matot-Maseh July 07 2010

After the war with Midian, Hashem commanded Klal Yisroel, “Everything that came through fire must pass through fire.” This is the source in the Torah for kashering our utensils that absorbed taste from a non-kosher source. This also teaches us that we must kasher a utensil in the same way that it absorbed the taste. If the non-kosher
taste was cooked in, we must boil it out. If it was burned in, it must be burned out.
