We conclude the first blessing of Shemone Esray by stating G-d is King, Helper, Savior, and Shield. Rav Aryeh Kaplan explains that these are four levels of help we can receive from G-d. A King has supreme power but is far away from most people. A Helper provides assistance to those that need it, like a person needing help to climb a tree. A Savior saves people when they are in trouble, like a person saving someone that is drowning. A Shield protects a person no matter what is thrown at him. A Shield even protects people from dangers that they are not even aware of.
