Second Section – the Negative Commandments

68. It is a negative commandment “do not favor a convert or orphan in judgment”

As it states in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 24:17, “do not show favor in judgment for the convert or orphan.” If a person transgresses and favors a convert or orphan in judgment, he has transgressed two negative commandments (one is ‘you shall not judge with injustice’ (Vayikra/Leviticus 19:15) and this negative commandment.)

This applies in all places and at all times.
