Dvar Halacha On Parshat Vayeshev 2011

The Halacha states that when a women gives birth to a baby, she becomes ritually impure. Nevertheless, the exact moment that a baby is called “born” is not so simple. The passuk in this week’s Parshas states, “and she gave birth, and he (Peretz) stuck out his hand.” The Gemara in Niddah proves from here that as soon as the baby sticks out his hand, it is called a birth and the mother becomes impure.
