The Pirkei D’Rebbi Eliezer states that the source for Sheva Brachos is from Yaakov and Leah’s marriage. After realizing that he actually married Leah instead of Rochel, Yaakov is told by Lavan, “Wait out this week…” referring to the week of Sheva Brachos. Interesting to note, there is no requirement to make seudos during these days; only that if one does, he must make the seven brachos. The Maharsha”l writes that in his day, they were not accustomed to make a seudah every day during Sheva brachos.
