Dvar Halacha On Parshat Vayakhel 2012

The Halacha tells us that when one promises to take a certain action, he is required to do so due to the laws of nedarim. We find in this week’s parsha a novel idea regarding Kodshim. If one merely thinks that he wants to bring the korbon, even without expressing his intentions in words, he is required to do do. The passuk refers to those who donated to the Bais HaMikdash as “N’div leiv,” one whose heart gives. The Gemara in Shavuos learns from here that even in one’s heart he is considered a giver, and is required to give as he thought in his heart. As far as giving tzedokoh is concerned, many opinions hold that the same law applies.
