Throughout our history, we have had many decrees and ordinances established by the Chachomim to be a guard for the Torah. The source of the power of the Chachomim to do this is a passuk in this week’s Parsha. The Torah tells us, “Do not stray from the thing they tell you,” referring to these new Rabbinic laws.
