As we all know, machlokes is a horrible thing. However, not everyone realizes that making a machlokes is actually a prohibition in the Torah. The passuk in Parshas Korach states, “Moshe got up and walked to Dosson and Aviram.” The Gemarah in Sanhedrin states in the name of Rav that Moshe went to them in order to diffuse their argument. Rav brings another passuk to tell us the prohibiton, “You should not be like Korach and his followers.”
