Dvar Halacha On Parshat Ki Tavo 9 12 2011

The poskim mention that there is a difference in the way we wear the tefilin shel yad and tefillin shel rosh. The tefilin on the arm are meant to be covered by one’s shirt. However, the tefillin on one’s head are meant to be revealed to onlookers. The source of this Halacha is in Parshas Ki Savo. The passuk says, “They will see that the name of Hashem is called upon you, and they will have fear from you.” Chaza”l say that this is referring to the tefillin of the head. Therefore, we see from the passuk that those tefillin must be able to be seen.
