Dvar Halacha On Parshat Devarim 07 08 2013

The Torah is extremely careful to facilitate a proper judgement in the court system. The passuk states in this week’s Parsha, “You should listen to the large and the small.” Our sages in Tana Dvei Eliyahu explain that one must equate both the plaintiff and defendant, that both must be sitting or both must be standing. By means of this, neither party is intimidated by the other side of the case.
