Second Section – the Negative Commandments

49. & 50. It is a negative commandment “Do not hurt a righteous convert to Judaism with harmful words”

As it states in Shemos (Exodus) 22:20, “Do not hurt a convert.”

It is also a negative commandment “Do not cheat a righteous convert to Judaism out of money”

As it states in Shemos (Exodus) 22:20, “and do not oppress him.” These negative commandments are in addition to the previous negative commandments we have mentioned in reference to all other Jews.

This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
