Beha’alotach 5776 – Beloved by G-d

The verse in this week’s Parsha says: And I will give to Aharon and His Sons, the Levi’im from amongst the Sons Of Israel “Bnei Yisroel” to help serve the Bnei Yisroel in the Tenth of Meeting “Ohel Moaid” and to bring forgiveness for Bnei Yisroel and there won’t be in Bnei Yisroel a plague when Bnei Yisroel come close to the Mishkan.

The words “Bani Israel” are mentioned a total of five times in this verse! The reason for this repetition, Rashiי tells us, is the following: It says “Bani Israel” five times in order to show that they are dear and beloved by G-d.. Rashi continues to explain, what is the reason G-d “Hashem” chose the number five to show his love?

The answer is that the number five corresponds to the five books of Torah. G-d chose the number five because it represents the special treasure that Hashem gave to His Children, which is the Holy Torah.

A Jew must always remember that no matter what he does or where he is, G-d always loves him. The proof of this is the fact that G-d granted us and entrusted us with the Holy Torah!

In our daily prayer the blessing of Ghal Israel, which we say every morning right before the silence prayer, the word Israel is also mentioned five times:
#1) Rock of Israel, #2) Arise to the aid of Israel and liberate, as You pledged #3)Judah and Israel. #4) Our Redeemer – Hasham, Master of Legions, is His Name – #4) the Holy One of Israel. #5) Blessed are You, Hasham, Who redeemed Israel.

As we prepare to Pray “Daven” and ask Hashem for all our needs we remind ourselves that we are Hashem’s beloved children to whom He gave His Holy Torah. This endows is with the confidence that G-d will accept our prayers.
