Second Section – the Negative Commandments
92. It is a negative commandment “do not eat meat cooked with milk”
As it states in Shemos (Exodus) 34:26, “do not cook a goat in its mother’s milk.” A person is liable to receive lashes if he eats an olive amount size of meat and milk. He is liable for the punishment of lashes even if he receives no pleasure from the eating of them, for example if the items were so hot that they burned his throat, or if they included something bitter that he received no plesaure at all from eating them. Meat and milk together without being cooked, but they were soaked or salted together, is forbidden to eat according to the Sages, but one may have benefit from them. Meat from an undomesticated animal or bird that was cooked together with milk (either milk from a domesticated animal or an undomesticated animal) is forbidden to eat according to the Sages. Fish and kosher locust are permitted to be cooked with milk and are allowed to be eaten together.
This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
