Yaakov called to his sons and said, “Gather around and I will tell to you what will happen in the end of days.” (Bereshis 49:1)
Our Sages tell us what will happen in the World to Come – we will all be learning Torah the entire day. Now think about this – is this something you really want to be doing? Most people don’t enjoy learning Torah in this world; do I really want to learn Torah for eternity? Is this really something that I should be looking forward to?
At Walt Disney World, there are behind-the-scene tours that explain different attractions and takes people underground to through the employee tunnels. Of course, there is a charge to go on these tours, but people pay what Disney asks for so they can go on these tours. The reason they do this is simple – Walt Disney World is something exciting. To be able to see how the park works makes the trip even more exciting. The more information a person has about something shows the more they love it.
This is the reason we forever learn Torah in the World to Come. In the next world, we clearly see Hashem and will have a great desire to get closer to him. We will want to understand Him as much as we can and connect with Him. We will want to understand the way He built this beautiful world we live in right now.
Torah is the blue-print to the world. Torah is the document Hashem used to build this world and create the universe. If we want to see the behind-the-scenes tour, all we need to do is open the Torah. The only reason people do not want to learn Torah in this world is because we do not clearly see the beauty of Hashem and His world. In the next world everything will be clear and we will joyously learn Torah with much excitement.
Good Shabbos!
