The halachas of boneh differs between building or fixing something attached to the ground (e.g. a house) as opposed to a small object not attached to the ground. A large object even not attached to the ground (e.g. a bookcase) has the same status as that of something attached to the ground. A small object needs more of a permanent connection between the two objects being attached. Therefore to put a draw onto its tracks will be permitted if the dresser is small an not attached to the floor or wall. To put the same draw onto its tracks in a big dresser or if it is attached to the floor or wall will be forbidden.
Likewise, to attach a door to its hinges or a sliding door or window to its tracks is forbidden. If a door or window came off its tracks, whether or not it is permitted to push it back on will depend on how far off it detached and how usable it is in its current state.
