To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Hide me from the secret council of the wicked; from the tumult of the workers of iniquity:
who have whetted their tongue like a sword, aimed their arrows of bitter words:
to shoot the innocent man in secret; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
They encourage one another in an evil matter: they speak of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them?
They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: for the inward thought of man, and the heart, is deep.
But God shoots his arrow at them: suddenly their wounds are on them.
So they make their own tongue a stumbling to themselves; all that see them shake the head.
And all men are afraid, and they declare the work of God; for they wisely consider of his doing.
The just man shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
