In Baltimore, there is a man that has much kavanna (concentration) during his prayers, so Rav Yissochar Frand once asked him what his secret was. The man mentioned that he once heard a tape on which Rav Noach Weinberg mentioned a person should try at least once not to speak at all when he is in shul (except with G-d, of course). This man tried this and had such a spiritual experience that he has continued doing it for many years.
