Tachanun

For the first seven days after his wedding, if a Chasan (bridegroom) is in shul, Tachanun is not recited that day. Right before his wedding, a man once asked Rav Moshe Feinstein what would be best: should he daven at home so people could say Tachanun or daven in the shul so they would not have to. Rav Moshe responded that really the best thing to do would be to daven at home. This is because Tachanun is such a powerful prayer and therefore, we should not be excited to skip it. (in the end he told the person to daven in the shul because then people would get joy about missing Tachanun – even though there really should not be joy). If we truly understood Tachanun, we would not be so quick to skip it.
