In Parshas Nitzavim we read, “…the revealed things are for us and our children forever in order to fulfill all the words
of the Torah.” Chaza”l learn from this passuk the principle of arvus, which means that each member of Klal Yisroel is responsible for the other’s mitzvos. This principle has many ramifications in halacha. For example, if one has already made havdalah, he can still make havdalah for another in order for him to fulfill his obligation, due to arvus. Since this is a very broad principle, please ask your Rov for its specifics.
