Second Section – the Negative Commandments

172. & 173. It is a negative commandment “do not seek services from an Ov or from a Yidoni”

As it states in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 18:10-11, “It should not be found within you… seeking services from an Ov or a Yidoni.” A person who transgresses this and asks for services from an Ov or a Yidoni receives lashes of disobedience. He does not receive normal lashes because he did not perform an action. If he performed an action because of the advice given to him then he receives normal lashes.

This applies in all places and at all times for men and for women.
