Second Section – the Negative Commandments
171. It is a negative commandment “do not do an act of Yidoni (kind of wizard)”
As it states in Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:31, “do not turn to yidonim (wizards).” A yidoni is a person who takes a bone from a bird called ‘yidu’i’ and puts it in his mouth. He then burns incense to it and does other actions until its wings fall off. He then speaks about the future. The person who requests this and the person who performs the act transgress this commandment.
This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
