First Section – the Positive Commandments

5. It is a positive commandment to fear Hashem

As it says in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 6:13, “Hashem, your G-d, you shall fear”. And the way to fear Him is like the way to love Him, as we explained above (see Mitzvah #3). And when a sin comes into your hand, a person is required to raise his spirit that the Holy One Blessed be He watches every action a person does.

And this is among the commandments that a person is obligated at all times constantly. Fear includes that you should not take His name in vain.

And this applies to men and women.
