This book lists the Torah mitzvos that can be observed today
First Section – the Positive Commandments
49. It is a positive commandment to cover the blood of a slaughtered pure untamed animal and fowl.
As it states concerning an untamed animal and a fowl in Vayikra (Leviticus) 17:13, “He shall pour its blood and cover it with dirt.” The person performing the slaughter is required to put dirt underneath, then slaughter the animal, and afterwards cover it with dirt. This is because the term “B’afar” (dirt) means dirt below it and dirt above it.
This is required in all places and at all times for men and for women.
