First Section – the Positive Commandments

34. It is a positive commandment to refrain from work on the first day of Sukkos

As it says in Vayikra (Leviticus) 23:35, “On the first day, it shall be holy for you.” Its laws are the same as the first day of Pesach (see Positive Commandment number 25)

This is obligated in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
