In this week’s parsha we find the mitzvah of hashovas aveida, returning a lost object. One of the prerequisites of returning an object is that the one claiming the object must identify two unique aspects that prove his ownership. Nevertheless, if the finder feels that the person making the claim is lying, he must do further investigation and not rely on the signs themselves.
