When Yaakov Avinu first sees Yosef HaTzadik, he comments, “I would have died now that I have seen your face that you are still alive.” Chaza”l explain that Yaakov was saying that if he hadn’t already heard that Yosef was still alive, the shock of seeing him would have caused Yaakov to die. From here Chaza”l learn that one should not enter his home suddenly lest he shock the people inside and cause their death.
