Moshe Rabbeinu left Mitzrayim in order to daven that Hashem would stop the hail from falling. Rash”i explains that he did not want to daven in Mitzrayim because there were many idols there. This is similar to the halachah that one cannot daven in a place where there is human or animal waste, since it is not an honor to Hashem to speak to Him amongst such filth.
