The Shulchan Aruch sites a minhag to go to a cemetery on Erev Rosh HaShana. Nowadays, when traveling has become easier, many times a year, entire communities travel to the gravesites of tzadikim that they look to for spiritual guidance. The first source of this practice is found in Parshas Shlach. The Passuk mentions that Kalev went to Chevron, and Rash”i comments that he went there in order to ask the avos to pray for him that he not sin with the rest of the meraglim.
