The passuk in this week’s Parshas states, “Acharei rabim l’hatos,” meaning that we must always follow the majority opinion in Halachah. The Gemarah says in Baba Metzia a fascinating chiddush. Even if a voice comes down from the Heavens and tells us that we are in error, we remain with the majority and ignore the voice from above. Another source for this Halacha is “lo bashomayim hi, which means that the Torah is longer on the Heavens.
