The Passuk says in Parshas Mikeitz, “The day grew lighter, and the men were sent out.” Why does the passuk mention that the day grew lighter? The Gemara in Ta’anis learns from here an interesting Halacha – one should only leave a city or enter a city when it is light outside, in order to avoid danger. This is not merely good advice, but an actual Halacha, coming from the din of “v’nishmartem meod es nafshoseichem,” meaning, “Guard your lives exceedingly.”
