The tachanun prayer that we say after Shachris and Mincha has its source in Parshas Korach. When Hashem threatened to destroy all Klal Yisroel as a result of the rebellion of Korach and his group, the passuk tells us that Moshe and Aharon fell of their faces in prayer. Rabbeinu Bachya explains that falling on one’s face in prayer connotes complete subjugation and understanding that Hashem is in charge of one’s life and is the source of all salvation.
