The Gemara says in Chulin that the Kohen had to eat his gifts roasted and with mustard seed, which was a very expensive delicacy at the time. The Gemara explains that the passuk in our Parsha says that the gifts were given to the Kohen “l’moshcho,” to honor them. Therefore, the Kohen must eat them like a king.
