When Moshe Rabbeinu davened for a refuah shleima for Miriam, he simply said, “Hashem please heal her.” Interestingly, he did not mention her by name in his tefilah. The Gemara in Brochos learns from here that one is not required to mention the name of a choleh in his tefilah. It seems, however, that the minhag is to mention the name, and one should ask their Rov as to this Gemara’s ramifications.
