The passuk states in this week’s Parsha, “To their families according to the house of their fathers.” Chaza”l learn from here that a child born from a marriage in which both parents are permitted to each other, the child retains that halachic status of his father. For example, if a Kohen marries a woman who is a Yisroelis or Leviah, the son is a Kohen.
