Sefer Ha’mitzvos Ha’Katzar (The concise book of mitzvos) By the Chofetz Chaim
This book lists the Torah mitzvos that can be observed today
First Section – the Positive Commandments
62. It is a positive commandment to loan money to the Jewish poor
As it states in Shemos (Exodus) 22:24, “If you loan money to my people.” [Although the verse says ‘if’,] this is a requirement. This commandment is greater than tzedakah (charity) and more of a requirement. The Torah looks negatively at a person that refuses to loan money to a poor person, as it states in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 15:9, “And your eye is evil to your brother that is poor… it is for you a sin.” (see Negative Commandment #56 in Sefer Ha’mitzvos Ha’Katzar)
This is obligated in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
4. Be kind to yourself. Speaking badly even about yourself is unethical.
