CONTINUED FROM LAST WEEK
There is a mitzvah on the father to learn with his son and his son comes before all others. Also, he is required to learn with his grandson as it says in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 4:9, “And you shall make them known to your children and your children’s children.” When a child begins to speak, his father should teach him and he should say with him the verse in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:4, “Moshe commanded the Torah for us.” A father has an obligation to pay a teacher for his son. A women is not obligated in learning Torah. Nevertheless, she should try to learn so that her daughters are not ignorant. Learning Torah is equal to all of the other mitzvos because learning leads to doing the mitzvos.
This obligation is at all times and in all places.
