One is not permitted to make a blessing and use the name of Hashem when not required to. For example, one cannot make a brocho “borei pri haeitz” on an apple if he has just made one on a pear and therefore exempted he apple from a brocho. The source of this Halchah is a passuk in this week’s Parsha, “Do not take Hashem’s name without reason.”
