Second Section – the Negative Commandments

188. It is a negative commandment “do not stop an animal from eating while it is working”

As it states in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 25:4, “you shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” This applies to an ox or any other domesticated or undomesticated animal. This applies if the animal is treading out the grain or any work involving the plants on the ground, if they are attached or disconnected from the ground, whether it has been cut or it is attached to the ground, whether it was muzzled during the work or muzzled before doing the work, or he stopped the animal with his voice, and he did work with it while it was stopped, he has violated this commandment. Even if it is an animal of a non-Jew, he is liable to punishment.

This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
