91. It is a negative commandment “do not cook meat with milk”
as it states in Shemos (Exodus) 23:19, “do not cook a goat in it’s mothers milk.” A person who cooks an olive size amount of meat and an olive size amount of milk together receives lashes, even if he did not eat them. It is forbidden to derive benefit from this mixture and it requires to be buried. The dirt above this burial is forbidden to derive benefit from. This is true with meat from a kosher species of animal and milk from a kosher species of animal, even if the animal was torn [and therefore no longer considered kosher meat], the person that cooks them together receives lashes. But if meat from a kosher species of animal is mixed with milk from a non-kosher species, or meat from a non-kosher species is mixed with milk from a kosher species or meat from an undomesticated animal or bird in milk, then it is allowable to cook them together and derive benefit from them, but it is forbidden to eat.
This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
